Wizkid is the winner of African Artist of the Year at Ghana Music Awards

Nigeria Music Network gathered popular Nigerian music superstar, Wizkid (Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun), is the winner of this year's African Artist of the Year at the concluded Ghana Music Awards (2013).

Interestingly, Wizkid beat P-Square, Iyanya, and Davido to win African Artist of the Year. For Wizkid to beat the duo of P-Square (Peter and Paul Okoye) is a big deal and also magical or what do you think

Anyway, the Ghana Music Awards (GMA) took place at the La Palm Hotel in Accra, and was hosted by Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) and songstress Eazzy, followed by performances from Banky W, E.L., Fuse ODG, among others.

Starboy Wizkid covers the all new Y! Magazine. Yes, Nigerian Popstar Wizkid Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun boldly covers the latest issue of Y! Magazine March 2013 where he reportedly says "EME is my family". Learn more!


In the cover story titled ‘No kidding’, Wizkid speaks frankly about his background, the history of his music, the evolution of his sound and the people who have made him what he is now – including former manager Osagie Osarenkhoe and Empire Mates Entertainment boss Banky W.

The shoot was anchored by the iconic Kelechi Amadi-Obi, with styling by Toyin Lawani of Tiannah Styling.

“EME Is My Family” -Wizkid

Could the rumors be true? That Wizkid is no longer signed to Empire Mates Entertainment (EME Records)? One could easily interpret Wizkid's "EME is my family" statement on Y! Magazine in so many ways, but the full story is on the Magazine's latest print edition when you grab a copy.

Information from sources explained that "if we really want to be analytical about Wizkid's statement “EME Is My Family”, that technically doesn’t mean he’s still a part of the label, it’s like not getting along with your sister or brother, you don’t want to do business with them, but they are still blood.

Speaking on the issue, Chude Jideonwo, Editor-in-Chief of Y! said “As this magazine went to print, the rumours were just about confirmed in public and sources had certainly confirmed in private. The amazing talent powerhouse called Wizkid had aggressively parted ways with EME, the label powered by Banky W – interesting news in light of what he told us only weeks before.”

Ice Prince Zamani becomes Rhythm ‘N’ Play Ambassador (NASCOM)

Chocolate City recording artist, Ice Prince Zamani, is the new ambassador of Rhythm ‘N’ Play, a flagship venture of the Nigeria Academicals Sports Committee (NASCOM).

According to information gathered from ChocolateCity Group, Ice Prince Zamani has been appointed the ambassador of Rhythm ‘N’ Play by the Nigeria Academicals Sports Committee (NASCOM). NASCOM has designed the Rhythm ‘N’ Play brand as its flagship campaign to drive and revolutionize grassroots sports in Nigeria. It is an exciting youth-friendly campaign aimed at enhancing mass youth participation in sporting activities and competitions.

Rhythm ‘N’ Play has been designed with particular attention on the use of entertainment, new media and other elements of pop culture to amplify and realize its objectives. Part of Ice Prince’s duties will be to create awareness for Rhythm ‘N’ Play via new and traditional media. The campaign will be launched in April 2013 by President Goodluck Jonathan GCFR in Abuja, Nigeria and later in London, United Kingdom.

Ice Prince is a prominent Nigerian Hip-Hop Artist and popularly known for his hit singles, Oleku and Aboki; just to name a few. He is a Nigerian recording artist signed to Chocolate City music label, a division of Chocolate City Group.
