2Face Idibia prepares for video shoot with a brief London visit

by Nigeria Music Network / 914 Views

International Nigerian superstar, 2Face Idibia, who is ranked as one of the best Nigerian musicians of all-time, took a quick day trip to London in preparation for his upcoming video shoot for ‘Dance in the Rain’ and ‘Spellbound’; Nigeria Music Network is reporting.

Mr Idibia sat down for an interview with Fernand Frimpong Jr., the presenter of the Voxafrica’s magazine show, THL (The Hi-Life). The star answered questions about everything from the rise of Afrobeats to his daughter's Nollywood debut.

When asked about Afrobeats mainstream appeal 2Face said, “There was a dream and the dream is coming true, you know. I’m very, very proud and very, very happy with the way things are going. Even though I’m saying that, I still want the guys to work hard and keep their heads straight and you know still keep their focus and take it to the next level.”

When asked about his daughter’s Nollywood debut the musician replied, “Abeg make we leave that film matter.”

He also addressed the reason why he chose to get married to his long time on again off again partner, Nollywood actress Annie Macaulay in Dubai. He said, “When we wanted to do it, Dubai came to mind and that’s why it was Dubai. It could have been anywhere. There’s no like any ghen ghen reason why it was Dubai.”

2Face will be back in London in a few weeks time to film his music videos.

You can check out the full interview on the THL Show on Saturday at 11:30am on Sky Channel 218 or DSTV 191

Four years later, Nigeria's P-Square resurrects Michael Jackson in 'Personally'

by Nigeria Music Network / 1,944 Views

If you are yet to watch Peter and Paul Okoye of P-Square's latest music video titled 'Personally', which was in memorial of the late pop king Michael Jackson; then you are sleeping on a bike. Because, four years later (after death), Nigeria's P-Square resurrects Michael Jackson!

Nigeria Music Network team members really praise Peter and Paul Okoye of P-Square for resurrecting the late pop king Michael Jackson in their creative music video 'Personally'. The video is a gift from P-Square to the world in appreciation of the impact the late music legend had on their career and that of many others - one way or another. June 25th every year is a big day as the world remembers Michael Jackson.

Nigeria's kings of AfroPop music, P-Square have said undeniably several times when asked who they got their influence from; they always mentioned Michael Jackson. In the music video for 'Personally', Paul Okoye did most of the singing as usual while Peter Okoye took care of the Michael Jackson dance moves - in a way never done before in Nigeria, Africa, and even internationally.

It must have took the duo P-Square several months if not years of training to have been able to perfect Michael Jackson's dance moves to this extent. The PSquare Personally music video have the power to keep you glued to your seats and no doubt; most people, if not everyone; would watch the music video more than once.

P-Square - Personally (Michael Jackson Tribute Music Video)

Olawale BrymO drops Chocolate City as record label, confirms via Twitter

by Nigeria Music Network / 1,322 Views

The controversial news regarding Olawale Ashimi popularly known as 'BrymO' dropping his record label Chocolate City Music, is starting to stick as the hook master recently confirmed via his Twitter handle @BrymOlawale that he left Chocolate City Music.

Today May 28th, BrymO announced on Twitter: "It is true, I have left chocolate city", hereby confirming rumors that surfaced this week that he had left his recording label.

The sudden news about Brymo leaving Chocolate City Music came weeks after Jesse Jagz declared he is no longer a recording artist under Chocolate City, the same label managing pop stars Ice Prince and M.I Abaga.

In a previous report by TheNET over the controversy, Brymo might just be a barking dog that won’t bite anytime soon. The label and his manager Samuel Lolo clearly state that the ‘Olawale Ashimi’ is still signed to them and therefore can’t walk out of their deal.

He still has three years and two albums to deliver, that’s what his contract says
, a rep from Chocolate City says.

Truly, Brymo can't just walk out on his legally-binding contract with Chocolate City Music as a recording artist, it just doesn't work that way. This must be tough times for the Ara crooner who seems to be in disagreement with his label. Brymo will need a good lawyer if breaking his contract with Choc City records which might end up being settled in a courtroom.

Brymo joined Chocolate City Music in 2010 and released his '#TheSonofaKapenta' album in November 2012.
