He asked for his return ticket fee which the organizers – EhiGlad entertainment said wil be paid immediately after his performance afterall his artiste fee which was 500,000 had been paid in full already but Naeto would hear none of it saying he had done the payment already and only needed a refund in physical cash.

After all pleadings fell on deaf ears, the show went on without him & after the show the organizers asked for a refund insisting not to allow him leave until a return was made there by the artiste but Naeto C placed a call to his mother – Mrs Kema Chikwe, Petroleum Minister & within minutes security operatives including the Police, SSS et al got down to effect his release.

D'banj arrests Kelly Hansome for copyright infringement

by Nigeria Music Network / 1,068 Views

The alleged copyright infringement case of Afro hip-hop superstar, D’banj was planning to institute against fellow artist, Kelly Hansome, was finally resolved at the Garki Police Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force, Abuja when Kelly Hansome was brought in and taken into custody according to Vanguard report.

The star’s media company, Media Image Managers that broke the news of the now settled rift last week, in another statement, confirmed the latest development.

Mo’ Hits (D’banj’s record company) had alleged that the D’banj’s song, I’m Feeling Good, was leaked in the process of recording and it finally found its way into Kelly Hansome’s hands that quickly did a ‘remix’.

The statement reads thus: “Do take notice that Mo’Hits Records Limited is the lawful owner of rights to the recorded material (I’m Feeling Good) being touted by one Kelechi Obinna Orji a.k.a. Kelly Hansome or persons acting for him.

Mo’Hits Records Limited has not granted the said rights to Mr. Hansome or to anyone else. Mr. Hansome’s possession and offering of the material at issue is unauthorized, unjustified, inexcusable and downright illegal; the subject of current civil and criminal proceedings.”

Mo’ Hits had advised everyone not to “publish, offer, play, copy, post or howsoever treat with the said material if or when it is offered to you.”

But on Monday October 24, the matter was resolved at the Garki Police Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force, Abuja when Kelly Hansome was brought in and taken into custody. He was granted bail to the sum of eight hundred thousand naira (N800, 000.00) He admitted among other things to wilful infringement of the intellectual property rights (copyright) of Mo’Hits Records Limited.

He consequently signed an undertaking and apology to Mo’Hits Records at about 4p.m. in the presence of several police officers including Chief Superintendent Victor Erivwode, (the Divisional Police Officer). Kelly Hansome undertook to refrain from further use of Mo’Hits Records Limited’s material, released or unreleased, and offered profuse apologies to Mo’Hits Records Limited. He also appeared to be convincingly remorseful to everyone at the Station.

Mo’ Hits and Kelly Hansome’s lawyers as well as D’banj’s trusted adviser, Seun Abisagbola aka Bankuli, were present at the Police Station.

D’banj fights Kelly Hansome over copyright infringement

by Nigeria Music Network / 876 Views

The stage appears set for a court battle between two Nigeria’s music artistes, award winning hip-hop star, D’banj and Kelly Hansome over alleged copyright infringement.

A statement from Mo’ Hits Record (D’banj’s music label) media Company, Media Image Managers revealed that the duo would be heading to the court room soon if all efforts to make Kelly Hansome to withdraw the new song, a remix of D’banj’s I’m Feeling Good, which Hansome had released on the Internet, fail.

Mo’ Hits alleged that the D’banj’s song, I’m Feeling Good, was leaked in the process of recording and it finally found it’s way into Kelly Hansome’s hands who quickly did a ‘remix’. “It shows how slippery the nation’s entertainment sector is,” the star’s publicist said in the statement.

The statement read: “Do take notice that Mo’Hits Records Limited is the lawful owner of rights to the recorded material (I’m Feeling Good) being touted by one Kelechi Obinna Orji a.k.a.

Mo’ Hits advised anyone not to “publish, offer, play, copy, post or howsoever treat with the said material if or when it is offered to you.”

Hansome through his lawyer had denied any wrong doing. “If that position does not change, Mo’ Hits will be left with no choice than to seek redress in the law court but in the intermission, any third party that does not want to be dragged into this litigation should desist from promoting the work in any form,” the statement warned. I did not date Genevieve, we are friends -D'banj say

by Nigeria Music Network / 853 Views

Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo aka D’banj is at the peak of his career and unlike other artists who begin a gradual fade on attaining this point, D’banj has proven without doubt that he is just beginning.

Like the extremely talented artist that he is, his songs have been able to completely transform his financial destiny for good.

However, like every true romantic tale, Dbanj still searches for the love of his life. In march last year, he was enshrouded in the biggest mystery ever to rock the Nigerian entertainment industry. The story began with the rumour that the Fall in love crooner was dating Nollywood superstar Genevieve Nnaji and gossip tabloids had fed on it like flame.

The alleged relationship had in a matter of weeks moved from rumour to ‘reality’ when the Fall in love video was released in May and both “love birds” were involved heavily in the video to the extent of sharing white hot kisses.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Dbanj was reported to have granted an interview to a publication where he allegedly confirmed his involvement with Genevieve.

We can however authoritatively tell you that all that was a lie. We can also confirm that both stars may have considered dating.

Dbanj told us in a interview that “I think Genevieve is a stunner and I could date or love her. But we didn’t date. She’s my friend and a star you know. We’re close and we both understand that things couldn’t work out.”

Well that’s it and hopefully, this should silence rumour mongers once and for all.

He went on to shed more light on the controversial video saying “ I really can’t remember, but that fall in love video cost between N4m to N5m. I ‘m not too sure. But I think it’s a beautiful idea if not for the way everyone is trying to go about it.

We had options of whom to use in the video, but at the end of the day, we saw that it’s an African song and by that time I had already played it in about fifty weddings.”

That song was recorded two years before the video was released and it remains my biggest song ever. I wanted to make a statement with it.”

He made more than a statement with the song. After the release of it’s video in May, he was chased across the streets by reporters. His manager and the entire Mo’Hit’s crew also ran for cover.

His aged parents were not spared too as reporters forced them to grant interviews stating they do not know of any such relationship between Genevieve and their son.

It was so much that at some point both Dbanj and Genevieve were rumoured to have left the country to avoid the rather embarrassing confrontations.

PAYDAY: Wizkid Gets N3 Million For One Hour Of Performance

by Nigeria Music Network / 8,230 Views

For those wondering, 3 million naira is equivalent to 20,000 USD and about 13,000 GBP.

Fortune must really be smiling on the newest kid on the block in the music scene in Nigeria at the moment and if possible, for a very long time; I am talking about no other person than Ayo Balogun Ibrahim known in the entertainment industry as Wizkid “Weezy”. There is no doubt in the fact that he is right now the best thing happening in the music industry at the moment.

Since his debut album “Super Star”, he has been head lining musical concerts and growing from strength to strength which makes him the envy of all other artistes at the moment. This also means more money to the singer. Just recently, he was contacted to perform at an Oando sponsored event which was held at the city hall penultimate week where he performed alongside O4kasibe crooner DJ Zeez.

It will interest you to know that he was paid a whopping N1.5million for his less than 1hr performance; but just after his performance and he was about leaving the stage, the MD/C.E.O of Oando PLC, Mr. Wale Tinubu, beckoned on the young singer and told him to continue and as a result, eyewitness said an additional N1.5million was added to his fee.

The elated Wizkid obviously amazed and short of words sang Wale Tinubu's praises to heaven. He was heard singing something like “Uncle Wale, Wan bad gan; Uncle Mi, Uncle Wale wan bad gan”. If Na you nko, sey you no go turn hip hop music to Fuji, not when you see the money involved. It's your time bro; make you spend it well and not laolao like they say.
